Rebar

About Rebar

Short for “reinforcement bar,” rebar can be found in virtually every concrete and masonry structure. These ribbed carbon steel rods prevent the weakening caused by natural contraction and expansion of concrete by providing stronger bond and tensile strength. Magellan Corporation maintains a robust inventory of rebar grades, sizes and treatments. ASTM A615 rebar is an economical choice well suited for less demanding, low stress applications that do not demand a tremendous level of tensile strength. It can be used for primary and secondary reinforcement of concrete, and will help absorb stress and weight while facilitating more even distribution of tension caused by concrete expansion and contraction; Magellan carries grades 40, 60 and 75 in ASTM A615. ASTM A706, as a weldable rebar, is recommended for capacity-protected structures. It can be most commonly found in joints, footings, oversized shafts and bent caps, and is available in standard Imperial Bar sizes 3 – 11, in grades 60 and 75.
