Energy, construction, aeronautic, automotive, appliance, medicine, defense, manufacturing: steel is requisite to nearly every imaginable industry, all of which underpin the very fabric of our country and the health of our people.
Magellan’s materials are sourced from world-class producers and substantial inventories are maintained in Chicago, Houston, and other strategic locations.
We provide our clients what they need, when they need it.
We work closely with mills as well as consumers to provide customized solutions for the market, and we’ve led the just-in-time delivery concept of SBQ products. Extensive inventories of standard grades of carbon and alloy steels in various conditions of supply in a broad range of sizes are maintained in both Chicago and Houston. Magellan also has customer-specific stocking programs in those facilities to service our clients.
Stainless is an ideal material for applications demanding both strength of steel and corrosion resistance, with added benefit of being low maintenance. The presence of chromium in the alloy forms a passive film that serves to protect from corrosion, and can even self-heal in the presence of oxygen with the chromium oxide layer rapidly reforming. Stainless steel is 100% recyclable.
Magellan stocks a wide variety of rebar sizes, lengths, grades, and finishes, including black and epoxy coated rebar produced in accordance with ASTM A615 or ASTM A706 specifications. Epoxy coated rebar is suitable for situations when maximum protection is needed from corrosive elements. Black rebar provides a cost-effective solution when anti-rust and anti-corrosion coatings are not needed.
Magellan Corporation stocks a wide range of ASTM A519 hot finished seamless 4140 and 1026 round tubing. 4140 is a medium carbon alloy grade and is widely used for general purpose applications requiring toughness and high tensile strength. A low carbon or mild steel with a simple chemical composition, 1026 is commonly used in construction, appliances and automobiles. We currently stock tubing in untreated, annealed, and quenched and tempered conditions.
